March 19 and 20 eduroam network maintenance and how it may impact some users

March 11, 2024

The Office of Information Technology will be performing network maintenance, March 19 and 20 at approximately 6 a.m., which may result in a brief internet service disruption for students and 1,670 users on the General segment. No action needs to be taken and the maintenance should not affect faculty and staff connecting to eduroam using a device enrolled in the University's Endpoint Management Security program

What users may need to do
Although devices should automatically reconnect to eduroam at the completion of the maintenance, we are proactively communicating to students and a targeted list of 1,670 users with instructions on disconnecting and reconnecting to eduroam, should they experience connectivity issues.

Next steps
On March 19, the 1,670 users as well as all graduate students will be migrated back to the General segment and Graduate student segments, respectively. On March 20, all undergraduate students will be migrated to an Undergraduate network segment. The migration should be seamless and transparent. The communication is planned for March 18 and 19, informing the 1,670 users and all students of the maintenance and connectivity troubleshooting steps, as outline in the communication below.

Communication to affected users

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) will be performing network maintenance tomorrow, March 19 at approximately 6 a.m. which may result in a brief internet service interruption. Devices should automatically reconnect to eduroam at the completion of the maintenance.

What you may need to do
In the event your device is either not connecting to eduroam or unable to reach the internet, please disconnect and reconnect to eduroam. Alternatively, you may also restart your computer. If you continue to experience internet connectivity issues, please contact the Service Desk or your local IT support.
