A new way to register devices to the Princeton network

Monday, Feb 11, 2019

Needing to register technology to the Princeton network and looking for the host database to do so?  From now on, you'll be heading over to OIT's Services Now at Princeton (SN@P) portal.

Beginning Monday, January 28, SN@P will be the place to go for all new wired network registrations and servicenet wireless registrations.  The URL for the new network registration environment will be

https://networkregistration.princeton.edu   (active on 1/28/19)

On Friday, January 25th at 9:00am, we will begin the process to retire our legacy host database service (www.net.princeton.edu/hostmaster ), which has been in place for many years to register devices on the campus wired network.  During the weekend transition, all existing wired device registrations will be migrated from the host database to our new network registration service; wired devices need not be re-registered.  All wired and wireless network services are expected to operate normally, without disruption, throughout the transition.

Eduroam and puvisitor wireless services are not impacted by this change.

Why this change?  As part of the Next Generation Network (NGN) initiative, Princeton is transitioning to a modern network registration platform, and retiring legacy host database systems.  This new registration platform improves the security and resiliency of the wired network and provides immediate turnaround for new and modified registrations.
